Open Hearth Cooking
Discover the art of cooking over an open fire, and enjoy the taste of the past. Participants will learn the differences of cooking
then and now, as well as the dangers. I have also recreated "Stone Soup" and read the book as the students add

Historic Candle Dipping
Learn the history of candle dipping, while you create your own hand-dipped candle.
Maps and Mapping
Discover the history of mappng and learn how to draw your own map to scale.
Paper Marbling/ Book Binding
Learn the ancient art of paper marbling, and create your own personal designed marbled paper.
You can also ask for book binding, and students can use the marbled paper for covers to their journals.
Sheep to Shawl
Learn the textile history of weaving, and try your hand at weaving on the triangle shawl loom. (I will have small square looms for
children to use for the program.) Students will learn the process of getting the wool, processing it, spinning and weaving a product.
Surveying Treasure Hunt/ History Treasure Hunt
The Surveying treasure hunt the students learn how settlers plotted their land, and then set off on a surveying treasure hunt
using a compass to navigate thru the clues. The history treasure hunt would include a history tour of the site, and then
provide history clues to find the treasure.
*This program can also be used as a pirate treasure hunt!
History of children’s pastimes
Discuss what children did for fun one hundred years ago. Why many of the games have meaning, and then
play the same games that were played in the past. This program can be held at the One Room Schoolhouse
in Champlain or at the location of your event.
Students will study and extrapolate where the garbage being studied came from, and how archaeologists discover
information about past cultures.
Holiday & Special Occasion Programs
Learn the history and traditions of each holiday and create a unique craft for each holiday or special occasion.
